Tracking drier conditions with plenty of sunshine

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Drier weather is settling in across the region after some showers earlier this week, with rain chances staying near zero for the next several days.

High pressure will gradually build over the region, leading to a warming trend through the end of the week and into the weekend. Temperatures will return to near and slightly above average levels.

In Yuma, sunny skies will continue Wednesday afternoon with a high near 95°F expected. Overnight temperatures will fall to around 70°F under mostly clear skies.

Thursday will remain sunny with a high near 96°F, followed by another mostly clear night with lows around 75°F.

By Friday, temperatures climb to around 99°F in Yuma. Winds will also pick up, with winds of 10 to 15 mph and gusts up to 25 mph possible.

In El Centro, temperatures will run a few degrees warmer. Sunny skies are expected this afternoon with a high near 99°F and a low around 70°F tonight.

Thursday will reach around 98°F under sunny skies, with temperatures warming to near 100°F Friday. Winds will generally remain light, with winds of 5 to 10 mph Friday morning.

For now, dry and mostly clear conditions are expected to remain in place across Yuma and Imperial counties as temperatures gradually warm through the weekend.
