Crossroads Mission serves Thanksgiving dinner

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It’s Thanksgiving day at Crossroads Mission, the final day of the three-day Thanksgiving event where thousands of meals were served to people in need.

Crossroads Mission staff, volunteers, and community members all came together to enjoy the delicious turkey dinner.

“I think it’s a great privilege that we are able to share with them and that we are able to offer a nice, hardy, warm, delicious, nutritious holiday meal. With many people who may not be able to enjoy at their home or who may just want a little extra,” said Azucena Solorzano, Crossroads Mission Marketing and Development Director.

And kitchen supervisor Melissia Knight says some people they feed, don’t just come for the food.

“Some people don’t have families so they can come here and have a meal and be a family with us,” says Melissia Knight, Crossroads Mission Kitchen Supervisor.

The Crossroads kitchen coordinator adds that seeing people’s reactions when eating the home-cooked meal, is the reason she loves coming to work every day.

“Seeing the smiles on the people’s faces when they oh that’s bomb, or that’s good it brings warmth to my heart. I really love it,” said Pamela Rainey.

Today, Crossroads served almost 1,400 homebound meals and over 750 in-person turkey dinners to Yuma locals.

Thank you to the entire community who made this event possible, to feed people in need.

And from us here at KYMA, we want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
