Update: Cain Velasquez charged with premeditated attempted murder
Velasquez also facing multiple gun charges for targeting a man charged with allegedly molesting one of Velasquez's young relatives
SAN JOSE, Cailf ( KYMA, KECY-TV ) - Update: Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is formally charged on Wednesday with attempted premeditated murder and multiple gun assault charges in relation to a shooting Monday night in San Jose, California, according to a news release from the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office.
The 39 year old Kofa High School Hall of Famer is accused of targeting Harry Eugene Goularte, who is charged with allegedly molesting one of Velasquez's young relatives. Velasquez faces 10 counts that could carry more than 20 years of jail time if he is convicted, per a court document.
Velasquez's scheduled arraignment for this Wednesday was continued until Monday morning, when there will also be a bail hearing. he is being held without bail at the Santa Clara County main jail.

Former UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez was arrested Monday on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into Santa Clara County jail. Velasquez is now facing an attempted murder charge and being held without bail at the Santa Clara County jail and set for arraignment on Wednesday. One adult male was shot at least once and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. On Tuesday, police identified Velasquez as the shooter. Velasquez, 39, is a two-time former UFC heavyweight champion, holding the title in 2010 and 2011 and then again from 2012 to 2015. The Kofa high school graduate and member of the Kofa Sports Hall of Fame, is considered one of the top heavyweight fighters of all time.
