GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy stalls Biden Bill for eight hours
Minority leader speaks out on bill which many are opposed to
WASHINGTON, D.C. (KYMA, KECY/AP) - Kevin McCarthy, Minority Leader for the House, rambled for more than eight hours on the House floor to stall President Joe Biden's social safety net plan.
McCarthy went on this long speech from Thursday night into Friday morning in an attempt to halt, or at least stall, voting.
Many Republicans, including McCarthy, are opposed to the $1.75 trillion bill that is looking to fight climate change, expand medicare and reform the immigration system.
McCarthy would be in line to become speaker if Republicans win control of the House next year.
