Power restored to more than 1,000 after broken power line results in 24th Street blackout

Power has been restored to more than 1,000 customers in Yuma after a broken power line resulted in a blackout throughout 24th Street in Yuma.

Crews responded to the 24th Street and South Engler Avenue just after 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Initial investigation causes crews to think that a semi truck may have struck the power pole, however that is still unclear.

APS says the affected areas were throughout 24th Street from Pacific Avenue to Avenue Three East and from I-8 to Palo Verde Street.

Power was restored to the affected areas by 10:30 p.m. Thursday night. Crews expect to be on-scene through the night to repair the pole.
