Milwaukee Brewers celebrate World Series win with parade

MILWAUKEE (NBC, KYMA) - The Milwaukee Brewers celebrated their World Series Championship with a parade through the city Friday.

At the same time, the city turned out to cheer on the brew crew as they showed off their new hardware.

The Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays in five games to win the title.

This was the first World Series win for the franchise, which has the smallest market size of all major league teams.

The Brewers came to Milwaukee in 1970 after playing one season as the Seattle Pilots.

The team did play in one over World Series in 1982, but lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games, so fans of the team had plenty of reasons to celebrate their historic win Friday.

At one point, the parade passed by a large mural of baseball icon Bob Uecker, who called Brewers games for 54 years before passing away at age 90 last year.

Now, the Brewers can finally call themselves World Series Champions and will enter next season looking to repeat the feat.

With the Brewers winning it all, there are now just four Major League teams who have never won a title: The Rays, the Colorado Rockies, the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners.
