Milwaukee Brewers win World Series

MILWAUKEE (CBS, KYMA) - The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions for the first time.

They defeated the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday night, and celebrated with thousands of their fans who made the trip to Florida.

Other fans were going bonkers back in Milwaukee as they've been waiting a long time for this.

The Brewers went up early and they never looked back, and now the crew is bringing the trophy home to Wisconsin for the first time.

The celebrations will continue all day Thursday, and Friday will be the victory parade.

Milwaukee may be MLB's smallest market, but the fan base has shown up in big ways as it sent World Series ticket prices into the thousands of dollars, and set records in merchandise sales.
