Candidates running for Arizona governor participate in debate

PHOENIX (KYMA) - The debate is on for the Arizona gubernatorial race ahead of the November 3 midterm election.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R) is facing off against Risa Lombardo (G) and Teri Ann Hourihan (NOL) in Tuesday's debate.

However, Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) said she is not participating in the debate, with her campaign manager saying face-to-face engagement is more important than a "stage designed for short soundbites and political theater."

Rep. Biggs and Hourihan's running mates, former State Sen. Sine Kerr (R-District 25) and Angela Harrolle Mohan (I), participated in Monday's Arizona Lt. Governor's debate.

While former Mesa Mayor John Giles (I), who is Gov. Hobbs' running mate, did not participate in the debate, AZ Clean Elections said Lombardo's running mate, Lisa Castillo (I) did not share if she was participating in the debate.
