Rep. Andy Biggs projected as winner of the GOP primary for Arizona governor

UPDATE (9:38 PM): Following his projected win, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) released a statement on social media saying in part, "I am deeply honored to be chosen by Arizona Republicans as their nominee to defeat Katie Hobbs in November."

YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA, NBC) - NBC News has projected Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) as the winner of the GOP primary for Arizona governor.

Rep. Biggs defeated Rep. David Schweikert, Scott Neely and Ken Miceli in the Arizona primary Tuesday.

Biggs was elected as U.S. Representative for District 5 back in 2017. He served as State Senator for District 12 from 2011 to 2017.

He will head to head against Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-Ariz.), who is running for reelection unopposed.
