CBS 13 Sports: Historic few days for Yuma-area sports

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - It was a weekend of firsts for two Yuma-area sports programs.

Yuma City FC picked up its first-ever United Premier Soccer League win Saturday, defeating Next Level Academy 3-2 at Desert Sun Stadium.

Rodolfo Valenzuela made club history by scoring the first UPSL goal for Yuma City FC, then completed a hat trick to help secure the victory in front of the home crowd.

The Somerton Toros also made history, earning their first varsity win Friday night with a 32-0 shutout of Rincon in Tucson.

After going 0-13 during their first varsity season, the Toros finally broke through in their second season.

Both programs now look to build on their historic victories as they continue their seasons.
