Menendez brothers granted early parole hearing

(CNN, KYMA) - The Menendez brothers have been granted an early parole suitability hearing.

Erik and Lyle Menendez could appear before a panel in California as early as next March.

The brothers were convicted of first-degree murder for the 1989 killings of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez.

They were initially sentenced to life in prison with no parole, but they were resentenced last year to 50 years to life in prison, making them parole eligible.

However, it's still up to the state parole board and governor to decide whether to grant it.
