Powerball jackpot climbs to 1 billion

(NBC, KYMA) - The estimated jackpot for Wednesdays Powerball lottery drawing now stands at $1 billion.

If a winning ticket does hit tonight, it would be the eighth biggest jackpot in the game's history.

Officials expect ticket sales to soar today now that the jackpot has reached the billion dollar mark.

However, it's no where close to the record jackpot.

That was set back in November of 2022 when the jackpot reached $2.04 billion.

The next drawing takes place Wednesday August 12 at 10:59 Eastern time.
