Bald eagle in California dies

(NBC, KYMA) - Jackie, the California bald eagle with millions of fans, has died. Last month, Jackie was seen being attacked by other eagles.

She spent three weeks in intensive care at the Ojai Raptor Center being treated for an unknown illness, unrelated to the attack.

The center announced Monday that she had died.

Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV), the organization that runs the nest cameras, also confirmed the death.

Millions of people have watched each year as Jackie welcomed eaglets with her partner, Shadow.

FOBBV ended their post with, "Soar free Jackie."
