One of the well-known bald eagles in California recovering after being injured

(NBC, KYMA) - One of a famous nesting pair of bald eagles in Southern California has been injured.

Video from over the weekend shows an injured bald eagle at a park near Big Bear Lake in California. The nonprofit group, Friends of Big Bear Valley, now confirms the eagle is Jackie.

Tens of thousands bird lovers watch Jackie and her partner Shadow on the group's Eagle Nest cam.

The group says Jackie was last seen Thursday in a fight with two other bald eagles. As of now, she was taken to the Ojai Raptor Center to receive care.

"The two sub-adults came, and there was an altercation, uh brief altercation on the ground. They tried to attack Jackie, and Jackie was able to fend them, to fend them off with her talons but um, she wasn't able to fly away," said Jennifer Voisard with FBBV. "We are very optimistic that she'll hopefully get released back home and go back to her family."

While Jackie is recovering, her mate shadow continues to care for their growing chicks, Sandy and Luna, at their nest.
