Singer accused of murdering teen to go to trial

LOS ANGELES (CNN, KYMA) - The singer known as D4vd will stand trial for the murder of a teenager whose body was found in the trunk of his car.

That was the ruling Monday from a judge in Los Angeles following a five-day preliminary hearing that started Tuesday.

The judge said there is enough evidence to move forward with the case.

Following the ruling, Patrick Steinfeld, an attorney for the victim's family, spoke to reporters outside the courthouse saying, "They're relieved that the judge agreed with the prosecution that there's sufficient evidence in order to hold David Anthony Burke accountable for these charges."

D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, is accused of killing and dismembering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez last year.

Prosecutors allege D4vd killed her to prevent Hernandez from disclosing details about their relationship ahead of the release of his album.

D4vd has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
