So far, 2026 has been an overall very dry year with the warmest temperatures for January-June. Take a look at our latest year-to-date temperatures and precipitation outlook released by NOAA. Take a look.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- Over the past 6 months, the Southwest U.S. saw the hottest Jan-June period on record since 1895.

This is according to the latest report released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

In Arizona, every county was the hottest on record as well, seeing a +5 to +7 F anomaly from the climatological average. Yuma is ranked 132.

The first half of 2026 also saw the Southwest U.S. noticeably drier than usual.

With the exception of Southeastern Arizona, most counties observed below-average precipitation ranking in the lowest tercile since 1895, receiving only 15-30% of their average totals for this period. Yuma is ranked 8th.
