Bonnie Tyler, ‘Holding Out for a Hero’ singer, dies at 75

(NBC, KYMA) - Well-known singer Bonnie Tyler has died.

The Welsh performer with an instantly recognizable gravelly voice is best known for her songs such as "Holding out for Hero," and the chart topping "Total Eclipse of the Heart," making her the first Welsh person to score a number one hit in the United States.

According to a statement from her family, Tyler passed away in a Portugal hospital after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery back in May.

Tyler was made a member of the order of the British Empire, for services to music, in 2022.

Tyler was 75-years-old.
