White House Correspondents’ Dinner rescheduled for next month

(NBC, KYMA) - President Donald Trump has announced the White House Correspondents' Dinner has been rescheduled for July 24, and will be held at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C.

Enhanced security measures will be implemented following the April 25 incident involving Cole Tomas Allen at a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton hotel.

A Secret Service officer was injured in the shooting, but was protected by a bullet-resistant vest.

In addition to the date change, President Trump confirmed he will attend the event and has accepted an offer to speak.

Further details about the event and programming will be announced as they become available.

Allen has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the alleged attempt to harm the president and the Secret Service officer.
