White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooter indicted on new charge

(NBC, KYMA) - Suspected White House Correspondents' Dinner shooter Cole Allen was indicted on a new charge Tuesday.

Allen was previously charged with attempting to assassinate the president along with two additional firearms counts after opening fire outside of the Washington Hilton ballroom where the annual dinner was being attended by President Donald Trump.

A federal grand jury added an additional charge of assault on an officer of the United States Tuesday after evidence confirmed that Allen shot a Secret Service officer as he was making his way through the hotel's security checkpoint.

Allen is now set to be arraigned on May 11.
