CBS 13 Sports: Yuma Youth Hockey League hosts IHAAZ tournament and inducts first-ever Hall of Fame class

Arizona Western was plenty busy across three sports and picking up a victory in all of them

Yuma Youth Hockey League hosted an Incline Hockey Association of Arizona tournament this weekend, but more notably on the local front, they enshrined the Hall of Fame class of 2026 - the first of all-time.

Arizona Western went a perfect 6-0 today across four teams. The men's basketball team won 69-61, while the women picked up a 96-32 victory - both over Yavapai College and both improving to 9-1 in conference play. Softball picked up two wins over El Paso (8-1) and North Idaho (10-2). The Matadors baseball team was twice victors by way of mercy rule against Community Christian College, picking up 15-0 and 18-0 wins.

Cibola High School alum Esteban Hernandez sign a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves this week. The pitcher went 6-0 as a starter for the University of Illinois - Springfield in 2025.
