Mega Millions jackpot surges to over $700 million

(NBC, KYMA) - The Mega Millions jackpot has rocketed to $714 million as no tickets matched all six numbers in Friday night's drawing.

The white balls were 11, 18, 31, 51, 56, and the Gold Mega Ball was 24.

This is only the ninth time in the Mega Millions game history the jackpot has surged past $700 million.

The next drawing is Tuesday, October 28. If won at this level, it will be the second-largest Mega Millions jackpot in the month of October.

It has been almost exactly seven years since the games's first-ever billion dollar jackpot was won in South Carolina, on October 23, 2018.

The prize of $1.537 billion remains the second-largest Mega Millions prize ever awarded.
