FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking showers through tonight for the Desert Southwest

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect due to remnants from Tropical Storm Priscilla bringing showers and flooding risks to the Desert Southwest through tonight.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - A Weather Authority First Alert ACTION DAY is in effect for the active showers and possible flooding through tonight for the Desert Southwest.

Rain totals for our area are looking a tenth to a quarter of an inch, with higher amounts in thunderstorms. However, it's being forecasted that rain totals on the high end could range 1.00-2.00".

The Desert Southwest has been having on-and-off showers today, which brought measurable rain in both Yuma and Imperial Counties. Most areas in Yuma County received over a tenth up to a quarter of an inch, with some areas seeing a little over a half of inch.

The Imperial County areas didn't get as high of numbers like those in Yuma County, but they still got something that was measurable.

A Flood WATCH is in effect through midnight Saturday for the Desert Southwest.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas. Remember to TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN.

We have potential for on and off showers through tonight, with slight chances this weekend.

Chances for additional showers are looking low, but we can't rule it out and could see an isolated shower or storm pop-up on Saturday afternoon.

STILL TRACKING THE TROPICS: Tropical Storm Raymond formed in the Eastern Pacific on Thursday afternoon. Raymond is expected to remain a tropical storm and has a path moving northward.  I will be keeping a close eye on this. It may bring additional moisture to some areas in the southwestern parts of the U.S. This is the 17th named storm of the  2025 Eastern Pacific Hurricane season.

A lower pressure system will be in place this weekend keeping our temperatures nice and seasonable through Saturday. Plus, we do have breezy conditions through the weekend with gusts 20-25 MPH.

LOOKING AHEAD: Take a look at our temperature outlook, which shows dark blues over our area, indicating below-normal temperatures.

For the weekend, we have slight chances for showers and breezy conditions. We will have day time highs in the mid-90s through Saturday, and then a nice cool down moves in.

Drier conditions and more sunshine will return next week. And we will have cooler temperatures taking over with highs in the low 80s and overnight lows in the low 60s and even upper 50s. Next week is looking GREAT! The weekend of the Yuma County Fall Fest is also looking comfortable and pleasant too.
