Arizona Democrats elects new party chair
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Arizona Democrats have elected a new party chair and she's from Yuma.
Former State Representative Charlene Fernandez was elected on September 13. She won with 58% of the vote on the first ballot after 700 people voted.
In her new role, Fernandez says she plans to focus on closing the gap in voter registration and bringing people togther.
Fernandez shared her excitement to be leading a party with the right mission in mind.
"As a lifelong democrat, and dedicated to public service, I am so proud to be leading a great group of democrats who are just committed to making sure that we protect the middle class and the working people of Arizona," she expressed.
Fernandez says she wants the people of Arizona to know she understands what they are going through, and she will make sure the promise of the American Dream lives on.
