DHS revokes immigration status of migrants who used the CBP One app
(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is revoking the status of migrants who used the Biden era CBP One app to enter the country.
In a statement to NBC News, a DHS spokesperson said:
"Under federal law, Secretary Noem in support of the president has full authority to revoke parole. Canceling these paroles is a promise kept to the American people to secure our borders and protect national security. Formal termination notices have been issued, and affected aliens are urged to voluntarily self-deport using the CBP Home app. Those who refuse will be found, removed, and permanently barred from reentry."
Since 2023, more than 900,000 people were allowed to cross into the country using the app.
When it was introduced, the Biden administration said the app would bring order to the chaotic immigration system, but it was often plagued by technical glitches and long waits for asylum appointments.
Within days of taking office, the Trump administration discontinued the app's use.
