FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Gusty winds and dust through tonight for the Desert Southwest
A strong weather system is bringing in gusty and dusty conditions keeping us under a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day through tonight.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A strong lower pressure system deepens today bringing in even stronger winds and cooler temperatures compared to yesterday.

A First Alert Action Day is in effect through TONIGHT as we have strong west winds impacting the Desert Southwest.
These winds will bring widespread dust, which will make it difficult if you are traveling, and will bring poor air quality concerns.

It's been a pretty windy day just take a look at our highest wind speeds and gusts recorded in Yuma and El Centro so far today.

UPDATE! Wind Advisory expired early for Yuma, but still staying in effect for parts of Imperial County through 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Strong west winds will keep us breezy and windy through early tomorrow morning.

By Wednesday, winds won't be as strong, but still could have gusts up to 30-35 MPH throughout the day.

Temperatures will trend in the 70s and below normal for the rest of the workweek.
I am tracking a gradual warming trend starting this weekend and will boost our daytime highs back to the 90s by next week and even warmer by the middle of next week.
