Locals and politicians react to Trump’s win

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Locals around Yuma County and politicians are reacting to President-Elect Donald Trump's win.

Following his win, Vice President Kamala Harris called the president-elect to congratulate him on his victory.

As expected, the locals we spoke with had mixed reactions.

“I wasn’t surprised. I mean it was kind of up in the air for a little bit. But at the same time I was happy that you know it went the way it did," said local Shirina Girmaldi.

Local lawmakers also shared their reaction. Republican Arizona State Representative Tim Dunn, who's now a state senator elect, says he’s satisfied with the outcome.

“Just specifically about President Trump, America’s better off. I think we’ll be able to pivot back to the right direction. All the thing we know that are important to Yuma. Focus on the border. Focus on the economy," said Dunn

Danyelle Burke North will have reaction later this evening.
