NYPD officer released from hospital after being stabbed

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A New York City police officer who was stabbed in the line of duty has been released from the hospital.

The officer was responding to the scene of a violent stabbing spree at a Queens residence early Sunday.

According to authorities, four family members were killed as a result of the stabbing, and the relative behind the attack went after two police officers before he was fatally shot in the driveway of the residence.

The recently released officer was met with cheers and applause from fellow officers as he exited the hospital.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) shared a post on X, formally known as Twitter, and wished both officers a full and speedy recovery.
