Tracking warming temperatures, some humidity and possible rain chances

Temperatures are going to continue to warm up slightly into the weekend. But with the tropical moisture to the south, it may bring in some rain chances, mainly favoring for early next week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Rain and storm chances are possible, but the highest and best rain activity will favor the eastern and northern parts of Arizona.

There is a 10-30% chance of storms surviving into the Desert Southwest this evening. Gusty outflow winds will be more likely, which could generate areas of blowing dust.

There is a an Air Quality Alert issued for the majority of the Imperial County until midnight due harmful particle pollution from windblow dust.

For the hours ahead I am tracking some clouds, higher dew points, and warm temperatures. It still will be a calm and quiet night ahead.

TRACKING POLO: Hurricane Polo has weakened a little bit, but still very strong.

Polo continues to swirl off the coast of Mexico and continues to bring heavy rain and flooding to the Mexico area.

As Hurricane Polo moves farther north over the next few days, Polo's path is looking to move more northeast as it continues to weaken back into a tropical storm. We could see increased moisture in our area. The impact from the storm may be felt in the Desert Southwest early next week, if at all.

But as Polo moves closer and traveling northward, we could see increased humidity and clouds with a chance for showers around the Desert Southwest.

Right now, we have slight rain chances through the week, with the highest chance is Sunday and into Monday. I will keep tracking and bring updates as we inch closer to next week.

I am tracking some extra clouds and some humidity through the week. Temperatures are expected to warm up to slightly above-normal levels by late this week and into the weekend.

Rain chances are possible later this week and into early next week. Temperatures are also going to cool into the upper 90s by early next week as well.
