WEATHER ALERT: Excessive heat all week long

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A strong ridge of high pressure system will continue to stay put this week resulting in major to extreme heat risks for the region.

An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect and has been EXTENDED until Saturday across the
area where temperatures could reach up to 119 degrees.

We do have elevated dew points across the Desert Southwest today, due to some current storm activity off to the east, so it's making it feel hotter than the actual temperature.

Breezier conditions are expected during the nighttime hours tonight, where gusts will range 20-25 MPH.

Breezy to windy conditions will be possible again tomorrow evening where stronger winds will favor Imperial County highest gusts could peak 35 MPH.

Temperatures will stay hot throughout the week where near-record highs could be possible for Yuma and El Centro.

Later on this week, there is a potential rain showers on Sunday, bringing in a 20% for Yuma.
