Weather Alert: Gusty and dusty through Thursday night

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A dry weather system moving into California today will
bring breezy to windy conditions across the region Thursday afternoon and evening.

A Wind Advisory, including Imperial Valley and El Centro, is in effect until 11 p.m. tonight for the gusty winds.

The southwest corner of Imperial County, including Ocotillo, will remain under a Wind Advisory into early Friday morning.

Wind gusts are expected to reach 35 MPH in Yuma county areas, while stronger winds will occur in Imperial County, where 45-55 MPH gusts are possible.

Winds will linger into early Friday morning before calming down by the afternoon.

The Imperial County APCD has issued an air quality alert through tonight due to the increased particulate matter from blowing dust.

By Sunday and into next week, a stronger high pressure is expected to partially move into the region, which will lead to warmer temperatures.

Hotter temperatures are expected to rise to slightly above-normal next week, where highs climbing near 110 degrees by the end of next week.
