FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking hot and humid weather through the week

The extreme heat is back. An extreme heat warning is now in effect for the Desert Southwest. I am also tracking humid conditions, making it feel even hotter. A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect through the work week for the area.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - An Extreme Heat Warning is issued for the Desert Southwest this week. This is in effect until 8 p.m. FRIDAY for both Yuma and Imperial Counties.

Highs will be between 106-112 degrees with overnight lows in the low 80s and low 90s. It is also going to be humid making it feel even hotter. Our "feels like" temperatures will be between 105-117 degrees.

We have major heat risk and little to no relief from this heat, so it is important to practice heat safety all hours of the day.

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect for the hot and humid conditions across the Desert Southwest. There are also major heat risk, so heat-related illnesses are possible if you aren't practicing heat safety throughout the day.

I am tracking south easterly flow that may bring in some moisture. Tracking some clouds, humidity, and a chance for light showers and sprinkles.

By the middle of the week we may see some light showers and sprinkles moving through the area overnight and into the morning hours. Not everyone will see rain, and those that do it will be very light.

Temperatures won't be the hottest temperatures that we have seen this year, but the humidity will make it feel even hotter, bringing in high UV Index levels.
