FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Extreme winds continue to pollute the air

Weather Authority / KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Winds are going to have a repeat performance Sunday.

Both Yuma and Imperial County can anticipate consistent winds sitting between 15-20mph, with gusts pushing up to 30mph at various points throughout the day and into the evening.

The western side of the Imperial Valley will remain in an air quality alert through 8 p.m. Sunday night. Make sure you are staying safe while outside. Wear a mask if needed, and try to avoid long stints outdoors.

Fortunately, the intense winds should ease off late tonight and return to more normalcy for Monday.

As for our temperatures, Yuma County may sneak into the low 80s, but the Imperial Valley will max out in the high 70s.

Overnight temperatures will drop into the mid 50s between Yuma and El Centro. Wellton and Blythe may drop all the way into the high 40s.

Monday's highs will roam around 80°F across the entire region. Tuesday will come with a sizable jump in peak temps, hovering right around 90°F for the majority of the week.

Monday should be all clear skies, with some potential for cloudy conditions midweek.
