FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Extreme heat warning extends again through the weekend

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-) - A Weather Authority First Alert ACTION DAY REMAINS in effect for the Desert Southwest, as we will need to take action for the dangerously hot conditions.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has extended the extreme heat warning for both Yuma and Imperial Counties until 8 p.m. Sunday.

There is major heat risk with afternoon temperatures 104 to 114 degrees.

We are feeling the hot temperatures this sunny afternoon. NWS reports slight chances for showers and thunderstorms through the weekend. 

NWS suggests locals to take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible, and drink plenty of water.
