FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Extreme heat to end the work week

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A Weather Authority First Alert ACTION DAY is STILL in effect for the Desert Southwest, as we will need to take action for the dangerously hot conditions.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for both Yuma and Imperial Counties until 8 p.m. Saturday for the major heat risk and highs up to 115 degrees.

The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of major Heat Risk in portions of southwest Arizona and southeast California as well as isolated thunder storm chances Thursday and Friday with 20-50% chances Friday through Monday in Arizona. 

With the extreme heat, they remind everyone to take heat precautions and avoid overexposure to the sun from 10am to 6pm.
