Tracking a clear and gusty weekend

Weather Authority / KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - It's been a clear and cool week across the region and while we're tracking those conditions to continue, expect gusty winds for our weekend.

A strong ridge of high pressure is building across the Southwest, bringing a gradual warming trend to both Yuma and Imperial Counties.

For Sunday, both Yuma and El Centro are expected to reach around 102°F under mostly sunny skies.

The biggest concern through the weekend will be the wind, especially across Yuma County. Gusts could reach up to 35 miles per hour at times Sunday, with some patchy blowing dust possible during the morning and overnight hours.

Monday will remain sunny and warm, with highs near 100°F in Yuma and around 101°F in El Centro. Gusts could still reach around 30 miles per hour in Yuma before winds ease later in the day.

Overnight temperatures will remain mild, with lows generally in the upper 70s to low 80s across the region.

Beyond Monday, temperatures are expected to continue climbing as high pressure strengthens. Lower desert communities could see highs reach between 98°F and 105°F by the middle of next week.

While the heat returns, rain does not. Dry conditions with essentially zero rain chances are expected to continue through much of next week.
