Tracking increasing moisture and overnight showers

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Although we are still seeing triple-digit temperatures, the extreme heat has passed for now and we are tracking increasing moisture through the weekend.

We are tracking dew points above 60 degrees in Yuma on Saturday, adding that extra bit of moisture making conditions feel slightly humid. Imperial Valley is tracking pretty seasonable on Saturday, in the 54-50 degree range.

Overnight we are also tracking some precipitation to hit our region. In Yuma County, we are tracking rain to fall beginning at 12:30 a.m. early Sunday morning. With scattered showers until around 7:30 a.m. Imperial County is tracking rainfall to begin around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning, lasting until 8:00 a.m. Expect to see partly cloudy conditions throughout the weekend as well.

Looking at our temperatures, again we are still seeing triple-digits across the board. On Saturday, highs in Yuma are tracking to reach 106°F. In El Centro, expect the high to reach 109°F.

Into Sunday, Yuma should see the same high temperature of 106°F. El Centro will be similar to Saturday as well, dropping one degree to 108°F.

Wind gusts have been quite strong the last few days. Overall, we are tracking calmer winds but we could see those occasional strong gusts throughout the weekend.

On Saturday, around 6:30 p.m. wind gusts in Yuma County are tracking to be in the 18-23 miles per hour range. Imperial County will see similar gusts, tracking 16-22 miles per hour.

Into Sunday morning around 8:30 a.m., Imperial County is tracking single-digit gusts in the 6-8 miles per hour range. Yuma County should expect 14-15 miles per hour gusts. During the evening hours around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Yuma County gusts are tracking 13-17 miles per hour and Imperial County should see slightly stronger gusts in the 20-24 miles per hour range.

Overall, conditions are fairly seasonable. Be prepared for those overnight showers that could last into the early morning. Bringing some added moisture and humidity to our region that we should see until Monday.
