100-degree heat and breezy conditions settle into Desert this week

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-KECY) - Triple-digit temperatures are sticking around across Yuma County this week as the region continues to deal with early-season heat and breezy desert conditions.

Temperatures climbed to 99 degrees by late Tuesday morning in Yuma, with dry conditions and wind gusts making it feel even warmer throughout the afternoon.

Forecasters expect highs to remain right around the 100-degree mark through at least Saturday, with mostly sunny skies dominating the forecast.

Tuesday’s conditions also brought breezy weather to the area, with south-southeast winds around 15 miles per hour and gusts reaching up to 30 miles per hour at times.

Overnight lows are expected to stay in the mid-to-upper 60s throughout the week, offering little cooldown during the overnight hours.

The warm and dry pattern is expected to continue through the weekend before temperatures slightly dip into the mid-90s by Sunday and Monday.

Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, and check on pets and vulnerable neighbors as temperatures continue hovering near triple digits.
