Tracking lots of sunshine and cooler than normal temperatures

Weather Authority/ KYMA

We are in for a sunny and dry week ahead with cooler-than-normal temperatures for now. It will also still be breezy in Imperial County through Tuesday. Tracking warmer temperatures by the holiday weekend.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Happy Monday! Temperatures are fantastic for late June. We are trending cooler than normal and were actually in the double digits this afternoon.

For the hours ahead, we are in for a nice and cool evening to look forward to. Get outside to be on the porch and enjoy the cooler weather. It is also the full Strawberry Moon TONIGHT so perfect weather to stargaze. Moonrise is at 8:06 P.M.

It’s been a gusty weekend, and I am still tracking some strong winds through  tonight and even for tomorrow. Mainly, those winds will be in Imperial County with winds coming from the west/southwest and gusts reaching between 25-30 MPH.

A Wind Advisory is in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday for the southwest corner of Imperial County for southwest/west winds and gusts up to 55 MPH.

Make sure to drive with caution as these will be strong and bringing in blowing dust if you are traveling on the I-8.

A lower pressure system is staying in place keeping the Desert Southwest cooler than normal with breezy evening for the first half of the week.

This week, I am tracking a cooler than normal work week with dry conditions and lots of sunshine.

We are in for a slow warming through the week, leading to more seasonable temperatures for the 4th of July. Hope you are staying in town. As of now, we are in for a great holiday weekend.

However, I am tracking more heat that will move in early next week.

TRACKING THE TROPICS: I am tracking and watching for a tropical disturbance in the eastern pacific. There is a 70% for a tropical storm to develop in the next 7 days. I will continue to track and bring more details.
