Excessive heat this weekend with rain chances

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - It's heating up as we will experience hot conditions this afternoon with highs rising back into the one-teens in some areas.

Winds will stay light with much clearer and plenty of sunshine to wrap up our work week.

Extreme heat will occur in Imperial County for the next several days.

An Excessive Heat Warning is issued for Imperial Valley from 10 AM this morning until 8 PM Sunday.

It's going to be a hot weekend ahead with Saturday being the hottest day of the week with highs ranging from 110-116.

Make sure to take extra precautions this weekend by staying in air-conditioned buildings, drinking plenty of water, and make sure you are checking on your elderly, kids, and pets.

With the increase in monsoonal moisture we have chances for isolated showers and thunderstorms starting Saturday evening through Monday.

Some threats to be aware of is gusty winds, blowing dust, lightning, and localized flooding. Make sure to have a safe weekend.
