More heat through the weekend

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Temperatures will continue to heat up. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Sunday for the dangerously hot conditions we'll be experiencing in the Desert Southwest.

Our afternoon highs will be hotter than what we felt so far this week with even hotter temperatures still on the way.

Looking ahead to the weekend, we will see lots of sunshine and hotter temperatures. . Stronger winds will return for Imperial on Sunday and slightly cooler temperatures at the start of next week.

We could even see some record heat this weekend. The record highs to beat for Yuma are Saturday 115-degrees back in 1956 and Sunday 117-degrees back in 1956.

With the hotter conditions make sure to take proper heat safety precautions to stay cool and hydrated this weekend.
