Tropical Storm Edouard makes landfall near Louisiana

JOHNSON BAYOU, La. (NBC, KYMA) - Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall in Southwest Louisiana Tuesday.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said the storm touched down near Johnson Bayou at about 2:30 p.m. Central time with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.

While forecasters expect the storm to rapidly weaken once over land, the NHC warned that rainfall across parts of Texas and Louisiana could potentially lead to flooding.

Edouard is predicted to dump three to six-inches of rain along the Texas coast through east-central Texas, but some areas could see up to nine-inches.
