Mother’s Day calls for warm temps and light breeze

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Happy Mother's Day to all ladies in the Desert Southwest that celebrate!

Sunday's temperatures are above average compared to May norms, but all things considered, the weather is holding up to celebrate the holiday properly.

Sunday's high temperatures for Yuma and El Centro are rolling in for the late afternoon at about 106°F.

Moving into Monday, both cities have an extreme heat warning in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Yuma's max temperature is tracking to be 110°F, while El Centro is a little lower at 108°F.

Both areas are trending about 15°F above average for this time of year.

The Imperial Valley also still has an air quality alert in place through 9 p.m. Monday.

As for winds, they are expected to remain in the single digits for the rest of Sunday, and hover between 8-12 mph in both Yuma and El Centro for Monday.
