Warm, dry conditions continue before weekend cooldown in Desert Southwest

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) — Warm and dry conditions will continue across the Desert Southwest through the end of the week, with temperatures running above normal under mostly clear skies.

A gradual shift begins this weekend as an approaching weather system brings increased cloud cover, breezy conditions, and a steady cooldown. High temperatures are expected to drop closer to seasonal averages by Saturday, while winds could gust between 20 to 30 miles per hour across the region.

The cooling trend continues into early next week, with the coldest temperatures expected Monday and Tuesday. Daytime highs in the lower deserts could fall into the low to mid-70s, with overnight lows dipping into the 50s.

While most areas will remain dry, there is a slight chance for isolated showers in higher terrain areas, mainly north and east of Phoenix. Conditions are expected to dry out again by midweek, with temperatures gradually returning to near normal.
