Breezy Friday before Weekend heat returns

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) — It’s another warm and mostly quiet day across Yuma, with temperatures running slightly above normal and dry conditions continuing across the region.

That trend holds through Friday—but wind will be the bigger story.

Gusty north winds are expected to pick up early Friday morning, especially along the lower Colorado River Valley. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 to 40 miles per hour at times, potentially creating areas of blowing dust and reduced visibility.

Aside from the wind, temperatures will stay fairly steady in the upper 80s through the end of the work week.

By the weekend, the heat starts to build once again.

Highs are expected to climb into the low to mid 90s by Sunday, running about 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Looking ahead to early next week, most of the desert areas—including Yuma—will stay dry, though there is a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms across higher terrain in eastern Arizona.

For now, expect breezy conditions to close out the week—before the return of hotter desert temperatures this weekend.
