FIRST ALERT FORECAST: More high temperatures along with air quality alerts hitting the area
Temperatures will continue to increase as we get closer towards the weekend, and winds will remain consistent around the 20 mph mark
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A strong subtropical ridge will continue to dominate the Desert Southwest, allowing very hot temperatures to prevail.
As the ridge migrates west-northwestward, drier air will return this weekend resulting in even hotter temperatures through early next week.
An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect through Tuesday, as widespread Major heat risk increases to Extreme heat risk this weekend.
Isolated shower and thunderstorm chances the next couple days will be confined to higher terrain areas.
