CDC makes new recommendations regarding face masks

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - The CDC now recommends masking for healthcare employees who might come across patients who live in a high community transmission areas.

The health agency presented the new recommendation Tuesday.

For further understanding, the agency says employees don't need a mask if they work in areas where transmission is not high.

In addition, community transmission levels describe the amount of coronavirus spread in a given county.

As of Tuesday, more than 68 percent of U.S. areas have high levels.

However, the CDC says they made the changes based on the current information on COVID-19 in the country.

Furthermore, the CDC says the updates was to reflect the high levels of vaccine, and the availability of effective treatments and prevention tools.
