(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - Officials in new york briefed president biden on the situation in puerto rico after hurricane fiona slammed into the island over the weekend.

More than a million people are still without power and drinking water as the recovery effort gets underway.

This as hurricane fiona aims toward bermuda as a powerful category 4 storm.

On Wednesday, president biden issued a major disaster declaration for puerto rico, which gives additional federal assistance to rebuild and recover.
