D.c. Residents line up for monkeypox vaccine

(KYMA,KECY/CNN) - The monkeypox vaccine was made available to Washington DC residents over the weekend.

And hundreds lined up for vaccination on a first come, first served basis.

The DC area has three vaccination centers, with 300 doses each to make available to residents of the district.

It's not enough to meet the demand for the monkeypox vaccine, however.

There is growing concern with more than 280 confirmed cases in the nation's capital, and more than seven thousand cases nationwide.

DC health will continue holding the walk-up vaccine clinics every Friday until further notice.
