Everyone counts; the 2020 Census is important for community development

CENSUS 2020
MGN

(KYMA, KECY) - Have you taken the time to complete the 2020 Census? It's important because it determines how much federal funding is allotted for public spaces.

Community organizations and county development depends on the results of the census to contribute to growth in the community. Yuma County and Imperial County are both lacking in their responses.

Imperial County is at 44% response rate, according to the census website. Yuma County has only hit a 35% response rate. Residents can still fill out the census online, even if the census packet has not arrived in the mail.

Federal funding is factored by the number of residents that complete the census, which in turn is reflected on educational programs, school lunches medical facilities and transportation.

Public roads and highways are maintained and funded based on these results. This also includes public transportation systems.

This means: everyone counts.

You can fill out the census by heading to their website at 2020census.gov. All information is secure and private. It will not be shared with any other governmental agencies.
