Dolly Parton’s Songteller Hotel officially opens in downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (NBC, KYMA) - Dolly Parton's Songteller Hotel and Life of Many colors Museum officially opened in Downtown Nashville.

Rainbow butterfly confetti took over the skies above third avenue as Dolly Parton's Songteller hotel and Life of Many Colors museum celebrated its grand opening.

"Every person that walks through these doors will be immersed in Dolly culture and feel Dolly's love," said Steven Kent, Dolly Parton's Creative Director.

From the lobby where a mosaic of the dress originally made for dolly to wear at the grand opening of this hotel, to the rooftop every corner you turn represents a chapter in the story Parton wanted to leave for her visitors.

Prior to her death back in August, Parton described the Songteller Hotel as her love letter to Nashville, but her love expanded far beyond the 615.

For many, Parton's story was able to touch hearts at home through her Imagination Library.

Families directly impacted were the first to welcome people inside and up to her Life of Many Colors Museum, where tickets are selling out fast.

The museum takes visitors through her life from her early childhood cramming into a one-bedroom log cabin in east Tennessee with her 11 siblings, to the glitz and glam behind each carefully crafted outfit she wore.

Parton's creative team says she never threw away anything which gave them a lot to comb through but also a way that her life and legacy can be remembered for years to come.
